If you’re spending New Year’s Eve in Ireland this year, here’s a few ways you can ring in 2008…

 Head to the local pub…

If you ask a lot of Irish people how they like to spend New Years Eve most will say they like nothing more than heading down to their local pub. Here they spend their night drinking, singing, telling stories, having a few drinks and of course enjoying the fun, the banter and craic that comes with a visit to any traditional Irish pub. The pub is where you can get a great insight into Irish culture and is a great way of meeting the friendly local people. Browse our list of pubs and find one near you this New Years Eve.

Glam it up for a New Year’s Eve Ball…

Ring out the old and bring in the new in style, when you attend one of the many New Years Eve gala balls hosted in hotels the length and breath of Ireland. If you would prefer to get glammed up, sip wine, indulge in a six course meal and maybe be serenaded by a string quartet then this is for you. Prices can be expensive but it could make a very nice Christmas present for somebody special in your life.

Hit the town…

The young (and young at heart!) will have a world of choice when it comes to celebrating the New Year. Most of the larger towns and cities will have pubs, discos and nightclubs which will be in full swing by midnight. There will be a busy party atmosphere eveywhere with live music, champagne, DJs etc.

Party at home…

If all else fails then why not host your own New Years Eve gathering. A lot of people opt to stay at home for New Years Eve as ‘staying in’ is considered the new ‘going out’!

So why not rent a self catering cottage and gather your nearest and dearest.
