About the concert…
Avril Lavigne is a Canadian rock/pop singer who rose to fame in 2002 with her debut album “Let Go” which featured such singles as Complicated, Sk8er Boi, and I’m With You. Later on she also released Under My Skin (2004) and The Best Damn Thing (2007).
The latest album The Best Damn Thing, returns Lavigne to a more bubbly pop-rock style. The most popular song in this album is Girlfriend; its music video is You Tube’s 2nd most viewed video! Such was the popularity of this song, it debut at number 5 in the American chart which is the highest American debut in Avril’s career.
‘Best Damn Thing’ sold 4.5 million copies worldwide and now fans can see this album come to life, when Avril rocks the RDS with her high-energy, high-spirited performance, which includes backing dancers and a live rock band.
This concert is on in the RDS Simmonscourt on Friday 6th of June and it starts at 8pm.
About the venue…
The RDS is in the beautiful leafy area of Ballsbridge in Dublin 4. It’s about a 20 minute walk from the city centre. Starting from outside Trinity College, walk along Nassau Street for about 150 metres. Then turn right and follow the signs for the R118 (Mount Street). Stay on this road for about 2kms and you should see the RDS in front of you as the road becomes Merrion Road. The RDS occupies an area of about 42 acres and is situated near to Herbert Park.
You could also catch bus numbers 7 and 5 from O’Connell Street and bus number 45 from Eden Quay which will take you to the RDS.
Another option is to get the DART train from Connolly Station and Tara Street Station in the city centre as far as Lansdowne Road stop, which is within walking distance of the RDS.
