The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is the only festival in Europe dedicated solely to Gay Theatre. This festival explores the contribution that gay people have made to the arts throughout history and continue to make to this day. The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival runs from May 5th to the 18th.
About the festival…

The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival 2008 will be held in various venues in the city centre in the first half of May. The festival was originally set up to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Oscar Wilde. As an International event there will be performances and shows coming from all over Europe and beyond.
As you wander around the festival you will be shown a number of theatrical works that were either written by a gay author or a show with a gay theme or subtext. These include classic works that feature gay characters or some other relevance; and there are also new works that have been written in the modern era.
The festival will take place in a variety of venues around the city from Monday 5th to Sunday 18th of May. The exact line up for 2008 has yet to be released so if you’re interested keep an eye on http://www.gaytheatre.ie/ for regular updates.
