The Carlsberg Kilkenny Rhythm and Roots Festival will kick off on Friday the 2nd of May and run until Monday the 5th May and if you’re a music fan you’re in for a real treat. Artists will travel from far and wide to participate in more than 80 gigs throughout the city – there is a cover charge for some gigs, however more than half the gigs are free of charge.

Whether your musical tastes lie with Americana, bluegrass, classic country, jazz, funk, soul, cajun, rockabilly, – an electric time is guaranteed! The line up includes Chuck Prophet and the Mission Express, Tift Merritt, Fred Eaglesmith, Chatham County Line, Eilen Jewell, Hillbilly Casino, Clive Barnes and Wynntown Marshals as well as many more Irish and International acts. 

And if you get tired of all that partying and need a little quiet time during the day, why not visit some of Kilkenny’s amazing attractions? These include Kilkenny Castle, the Rothe House and St. Canice’s Cathedral.
