Punchestown Racing Festival kicks off on 22nd April and runs until 26th April 2008 at the famous Punchestown Racecourse in Naas, County Kildare. Known as “the home of Irish National Hunt Racing”, this venue will be packed to the rafters for five days of racing as the main runners and riders take centre stage while the punters and bookies go head to head. Punchestown Racecourse is located about 3 miles from Naas, County Kildare, on the Naas to Ballymore Eustace Road. If you’re travelling from Dublin there’s easy access as it’s situated just off the M7 motorway.
The Punchestown Racing Festival is one of the country’s premiere race meetings and fans young and old gather to enjoy 5 days of top class racing. There’s over 3 million euro in prize money to give away. The main events of the 5 day racing festival are the Champion Chase on the 22nd, the Gold Cup on the 23rd and the Champion Hurdle on the 25th. There’s also the Newbridge Silverware Best Dressed Lady competition, one of the most fashionable events in the racing calendar, which takes place over the first 4 days of the Punchestown Racing Festival as well as the Most Glamorous Couple competition on Saturday the 26th - this is the part where the focus switches from racing to fashion.
