Glin Castle, Limerick

Glin Castle is one of the most important historical castles in Ireland. It has been in the Fitzgerald family – Knights of Glin for over 700 years. The Knights of Glin were a branch of this powerful Norman family. In the early 14th century, they were granted lands along the River Shannon and built their first castle there (the ruins of which can be still seen in Glin Village). The present castle was built in the late 17th century.

From March to November, the castle welcomes guests to stay in one of its 15 sumptuous guestrooms. All 15 rooms are individually decorated and both bathrooms and bedroom differ in style and layout as well.

The best of Irish traditional cuisine can be enjoyed in the main dining room. Here, you’ll enjoy a meal fit for a King, with everything from the crisp Irish linen to the sparkling silver family cutlery.

The castle also boasts a beautifully kept walled garden, tennis courts and a croquet lawn. You can also enjoy some clay pigeon shooting or archery on site.
